A dynamic light fixture with infinite configurations, the team at RREVV combined dimmable LED’s with wood and aluminum to create this modern, movable chandelier. Extending from a 19-inch pendant to a 9-foot chandelier, the expansion light is a versatile residential or commercial statement piece. A light with multiple space configurations; a versatile, playful answer to the traditional chandelier.
 
With the primary focus of addressing the limitations of static light fixtures, our early prototypes explored options for providing light without using conventional solutions, as well as non-traditional materials and low voltage light sources. Working in foam-core and paperboard, we played with forms and connections that would give the piece freedom of movement for a dramatic change in silhouette. 
 
Our base-model materials are Plyboo with aluminum. Lightweight and strong, Plyboo and aluminum are both eligible for LEED rating; Plyboo is a sustainable, formaldehyde-free wood laminate that can be harvested every five years, and our aluminum bar has up to 85% post-consumer recycled content and is 100% recyclable.
 
For our Brass and reclaimed Blackened Oak option we torch finish and wax the oak using the Shou Sugi Ban method of wood preservation, achieving a beautiful burnished finish with subtle texture.
